Will someone please respond!!!System.NullReferenceException

I installed and compiled the source on my server at work and everything works fine if I install the downloadable client msi and change the cfg file to point to my server . If however I compile the client source into a client setup and install it on my client machine I get the following error when I attempt to log into my server TaskVision app:"System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I love this app and hope that I will be able to use it at work so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm getting this same error now, it seemed to come out of nowhere.

I have versions I've been developing running properly in other locations.

This version should be the original, and it was working fine.

I think I should be able to set up a new 'original'version, but I'm still curious if anyone has any insight.

I had to put this thing on the back burner for a few days due to network problems and when I returned to it this morning --it worked!!! Holly cow some more of that MS magic. I must have re-booted in the interim or something. Thanks

P.S. How much trouble would it be to make this app browser capable as oppossed to using a smart client

Can someone please tell me what to include in the client build from the source so that the oblect gets initialized before referenced

This problem has also disappeared from my system without my fixing it.

I hope it has to do with the dev environment and isn't an obscure bug.

I had the same problem with my csharp build. I believe that visual studio may have deleted it (I try not to mess too much with initializeComponent method and make a method call in initializeComponent where I do all manual tasks)

the problem is in the hPanel object. If you look in the designer controls dropdown, you will notice that hPanel is not one of the controls added visually. So, it must be a control added programmically. Do a search on hPanel from the code editor and you will notice that the variable is never instaniate, only declared.

I deleted the variable and added the taskhistorypanel to the history xpander and named it hPanel. All seemed to work from there.

I have the same error too.

I have installed client and server msi to try out the run time app. They were working. after that I unstalled the client ans server app and installed source msi.

I then compile TaskVision and ran it. Then I hit System.NullReferenceException after tried to login.
