Has anyone received this type of error?

When trying to connect to an alias, via UNC, for a host name registered in the DNS database, it works fine if the actual host name or IP address is used. If the alias name is used the following error is received.

\\server alias\share

"You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network. Go to System in Control Panel to change the computer name and try again.

Any assistance, insight or experiences would be appreciated.

Thank you one and all!

Have a nice day!
