I last joined the Patterns and Practices summit in < xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />
Patterns is a must know for a software architect.
Does anybody know other meetings and has an opinion about it, I think that there are a few which you must join, one of them is the patterns summit, the other is, I think [not going], the Software Architecture Summit in San Francisco and don’t forget the local meetings from the IASA chapters.
But are there more

I actually had an email exchange a while back with I believe Paul Preiss. He gave me the name and email of some one identified to lead the Chicago chapter and that I would be contacted as things progressed. Sorry that I am missing details, but I can't read my home email right now.

Hi Tim,
there is none yet, but what about starting the IASA chapter in Chicago
I bet, there are enough architects interested in joining the chapter. And we would be happy to support you guys. ;-)

I would even say that you can't call one a software architect if he/she does not know common patterns.
I could not attend that summit in Redmond, will try to get to it in Boston this March. And I believe that the architect community needs more meetings/summits/conferences like that one.
