After the final step of the installation starts, the computer does not do anything , when I cancel the machine tray to send a n error report but It can’t. and the I can not even shoot the computer down. Any ideas please

I have the same problem, and did not find the solution yet. A clue might be that during setup Norton Internet security halted the Setup process (warned that the setup application was trying to connect to a DNS-server). After oke-ing the norton warning the process, setup proceeded, but never finished as described above. trying to redo the setup procedure resulted in the same ending (without the norton warning).
Anybody with suggestions

I just solved my simmilar problem by switching of Norton internet security and re-installing SQL server. No problems this time. First test proves it works fine.

I had my problem solved. The problem was that I didn’t uninstall all the components I wad supposed to, I left “Microsoft SQL Native Client”, I think a better approach would be to go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/uninstall/ and click in “run the autounistall tool”, in any case is a good idea to double-check that all the components are uninstalled.
