Impossible to install visual studio 2005 because the "vs_setup_msi could not be opened", i tried with different versions of visual studio like c# or c++ 2005 (express or standart) & i've allways the same message & can't install it.
Visual studio 6 is installed & works fine & i know they could work together.
I tried to install framework 2 before, to uninstall it before; i also re-install dotnetfx & i had no beta or express previous install.
I looked for topics about this problem everywhere (Google, Msdn, different developpers forums) but if i found a lot of people who had the same problem, i never find a solution.
What can i do Is there someone to help me
Thanks in advance for any help.

Impossible to install visual studio 2005

I tested official cd, image on my hard disk, downloaded installer (online & outline), well everything possible; so the problem isn't on the media but on the system.
An other idea

Have you made sure that your operating system is upto date on that machine. Also try installing the SQL Express product to see if it will install. Then I would restart the install of VS.... Also when loading up the windows update make sure that you include the .net framework 2.0.

You found exactly what was my problem.
So, i uninstalled my antivirus Kaspersky & installed VisualStudio 2005 without any problem.
Then, i re-installed Kaspersky & both work fine now.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Can you provide the DD_*.txt files from %temp% directory after a failed install with this error
I have few ideas what might be the problem. Can you post more, possible screen shots when you get the problem. Expand to get more details so as much information as possible is available.
As a really wild guess maybe you are experiencing something similar to this entry in Aaron Stebners blog.

If you are using media that works on another computer file/media corruption can be exluded, if you want to test it you can just try to copy the files from the CD to the harddrive to see that there is no problem with the CD-drive/drivers.
Something that might interfer if is you are running antivirus software that open and locks the file before the installer can access it. If you have any antivirus/antispyware/antimaleware software running in the background you should try to disable those.
