I can download the ~3mb files, but when they are run and they are trying to download and install everthing, it says that the transfer rate is 0, then goes to say that it is trying to re-establish it's connection with the server. It can't do this, and when 5 attempts to do this fail, it exits.
Any ideas

Cannot connect to server

i think that maybe true depending on which port this uses. I can download the IMG and ISO files in the usual way. But that application used to download the application could use a strange port But i think you are probably right !

However, I did download and install this software without a problem on my personal laptop.
I would appreciate some help

I downloaded the *.img file manually (on the download page for VB Express 2005 click on "Manual Download Instructions" or something of the sort). That works, but with my 256k connection it took awhile.
Does this clear up your problem

I am assuming that you are talking about installing the express editions from the web installer. Have you tried downloading the full img files and installing from there.

Hello there all.
I've just tried to use the "Download Now" on my home PC for J# and despite using dial-up, it worked. So yes, possibly a firewall problem. In the end i thought creating an installation CD would be best so i downloaded the ISO version and created a CD with my Nero 6 reloaded. That worked fine. So i can use the CD to install on my other PC. On the whole this seems a better solution because i wont have to re-download if i need to re-install !!
Thanks to all.
P.S I'll retry this when i get back to work after Christmas.
