    hi,

i don't think there is a little differences between both of visual and qbasic even i think its different language may be syntax is close but totally different implementations i guess this article might help you in serial ports programing using vb 2005 or vb 0.6

Very good thread. Thanks for starting this thread, shakalama!

Although I'm far from a beginner in VB, I'm sure I can get something out of the beginner materials that might save me time in the long run. That being said, I'd appreciate if someone could post the link to the eBook, "Build a Program Now!".

The registration email mentions it, but where is the link to it

    TIA!

    John

    Hello Shakalama,

I noticed you emphasized poltitely, and I worried a bit that you should have to emphasize that at all.

Microsoft and the moderators are committed to making this community a safe and helpful one for the entire community.

For this reason, every single post has an ABUSE field in the lower right hand corner. If you feel anyone is being abusive, offensive or acting out in a way that hampers your having a meaningful experience here, you'll be supporting both yourself and the entire community if you just push that link. These reports are evaluated towards maximizing your experience and the value you both derive and create here.

May you continue your respected contributions Shakalama-San

  • Milo T. Minderbinder

I wasn't asking you to remove that at all.

If I am not mistaken, "San" is Japanese for "respected friend".

    Here is the link http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/companion/0-7356-2213-2/.

There is a mis-spelling in your link.

This was really useful as the URL in the book [MicrosoftR Visual BasicR 2005 Express Edition: Build a Program Now! by Patrice Pelland]did not include "mpress" and therefore was useless. However, I found the book very good for beginners.

I downloaded MicrosoftR Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition: Build a Program Now! The link on page vi renders the following message: We’re sorry, but there is no Microsoft.com Web page that matches your entry. It is possible you typed the address incorrectly, or the page may no longer exist. You may wish to try another entry or choose from the links below, which we hope will help you find what you’re looking for.

Does anyone have the code samples for
MicrosoftR Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition: Build a Program Now!

  • Gorhal

I have a quite intricated code in qbasic that I use to pilot motors through the parallele port of my Windows 95 old PC that I would like to translate in Visual Basic to run it with XP. Is there some way to do it with Visual Basic 6.0 From what you said in another post the difference is not so big between Visual and Quick Basic. Where could I find a good description of the differences.
    Thanks!

  • Mark Rodenhauser

You put mpress in the hyperlink. It should be http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/companion/0-7356-2213-2/
