I tried to download the e-book including Build a Program Now! and all I
got was a mess that was call Download Description.aspx. Then I
tried to buy the book from MSDN and could not. I finally ordered the
whole book at Barnes & Noble.
Getting the "benefits" from registration is turning out to be more difficult than it should be.
All I really want is to get some good basic ideas about how to use
Visual Basic 2005 Express and I am not having much luck getting
them. Does anyone have any good suggestions about getting
good beginning materials

I had a similar problem. The download description.aspx is a file that is used to lauch the MS File Transfer Manager (FTM) on your local machine. You have to have the FTM installed first. You can find it at http://transfers.one.microsoft.com/ftm/default.aspx target=install . In my case, it kept failing because I didn't have FTM installed and I use a regular user account instead of an admin account for my day-to-day activities, so FTM wouldn't install automatically.
You have to be administrator to install the FTM. So log in as admin and follow the link above. Install the FTM . You also have to watch out for the popup and activeX notifications in IE during the install if you are using XP SP2 and grant them at least one-time permission for the install to complete. After the FTM is installed, you should be able to go back to your regular user account and download the content.

"C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\TransferMgr.exe"
Start the manager and go to the download-page, this works.

Thanks for the reply, but it did not work. I will not try again. It is a waste of my time.
