I have installed "Microsoft Visual Studio 2005- 8.0.50727.42(rtm.050727-4200)" and this is what I see when I open the Help menu.In the installed produts,it shows"Microsoft Visual Basic,Microsoft Visual C#,...but at my friends place I see "Microsoft Visual Basic .NET,Microsoft Visual C# .NET,....."Why is it that he has got .net tags at the end as shown above but i don't and yes he is using VS 2003.
I am also not able to create or start a ASP.NET,why is this so.Am I using the Enterprise edition

You are running an express edition.
Get Visual web Developer 2005.

Well. If you didn't pay for it, then it's express edition. If you did pay for it, bla.
Most likely an express edition.
You should always have IIS installed. It's 1337

The only difference in terms of the naming (ie missing .NET) is that Microsoft has dropped the .NET tag from a lot of their product names, even those that heavily rely on or use .NET technologies.
So while the 2002 and 2003 versions of Visual Studio ended in .NET, now the new version is simply Visual Studio 2005.
As for not being able to start an ASP.NET project/application/ you’ll need to be a little more specific on your problem, especially considering the fact that I as far as I know, there is no Enterprise edition of 2005.
Also, with regards to ASP.NET related questions, you may have better luck asking them at the official ASP.NET forums.

1)Is it so that, the files of "ASP.NET WEB applications" or "ASP.NET WEB services" will be seen only when the IIS server is running or
2)Is it sufficient for IIS server to be installed to see those options.
