Visual C# Express, Help disappeared

After installing SQL Express, Visual C# Express 2005 doesn't show any local help. Showing 'Exception from HRESULT: 0x800403BC' in a Dialog. What can I do, to fix this problem I've already reinstalled all this SW.

Also - do you get the same behavior for the various entry points to Help E.g. Index, Contents, F1, and Search

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

Index does not give any results or comments (I wrote "If"). Search does dot give any results, when computer is not connected to Internet (I wrote "For"). Pressing F1 gives a dialog with text: No topics could be located that were relevant to the F1 request (I highlighted a key word in the source code. Contents Filtered by gives a dialog with text: The selected filter contains an error that prevents it from being applied. (The field of the filter is empty, and it is impossible to enter into it any text.) How Do I gives dialog with text Exception from HRESULT: 0x800403BC.

Can you try doing a repair on "Microsoft MSDN 2005 Express Edition" from Add/Remove programs

When you select Change/Remove from Add/Remove Programs you'll get an option to repair it.

    Hello Jeremy!

I’ve already resolved this problem, and all the help functions are now working normally with certain settings in the O/S. But I think You should make some improvements on this S/W, shouldn’t You . I try to explain the problem here, but some english words may not be exactly the same as in XP – English.

I installed the C# on a brand new computer in Finland, and the program C# with the help functions worked normally. Actually I’m living in Russia, and then I made some changes in the settings accordingly. (That’s how far I remember.)

In the Control Panel in “Regional Settings” in “Standards and Forms” I choosed “Russia”. And that’s it! If Selected “Finland”, help appears again. I think, You guys should examine, why is this. In any case, I'm too busy for that.

Thank’s for Your help in anyway.

    Heikki

    Hello,

Do you get the same result regardless of whether Help is set to Integrated Help Viewer or External Help Viewer You can set this option in Tools | Options | Environment | Help. By default it will be set to External.

    Thanks,

I repaired "Microsoft MSDN Express Library 2005 Beta2 - English" and also "Visual C# 2005 Express Edition Beta2 - English". Nothing changed. Does it matter if I have XP Professional in Finnish

Yes, the result is always the same. When selecting Help|How Do I, the result is exactly the same regardless of the Viewer. After the 1st install (from DVD PCPRO september 2005) this help worked OK. But during the install, was informed an error in SQL install. But after installing SQLEXPR "manually" the Help disappeared, although no error was reported on SQL install (of course installing with the other s/w).

    Thank You for the help!
