Project Types and Templates Gone.

I've been using VB 2005 Express Beta 2 for a few months now, and suddenly they're gone. i click on new project, and the window comes up asking me to select the project type, and/or a template, but there are no types or templates available.

anyone know what may have happened are the types and templates stored as files in a certain directory

I've tried repairing the installation, and it said the installation was a success, but there was an error. it doesn't give any information on what that error is...

i tried uninstalling, but it says it can't determine the order to uninstall.

any ideas/recommendations

    Nope, that's not the one. that's the only one i can find now, but there was definitely a program that i ran that removed the remains of my installation... and it wasn't the beta 1 cleanup utility that's mentioned a lot either.

    i think maybe it wasn't specific to visual studio 2005, but just visual studio. I've looked again, and can't find it anywhere. whatever it was, it worked. i'd like to find it so others can use it...

    I think the site with unistall instructions that you are referring to is this: http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/vs2005/uninstall/.
    (It's definitely a bit hard to find!)

    Hi, this is an issue that we have seen intermitently with some Beta 2 installations. We are confident that this is fixed in the final release of VS. In the meantime, as a workaround, you can try running  vbexpress /setup to rebuild your template cache.

    I found another visual studio installation removal tool. i can't find where i found it now, but i'm pretty sure it was on the MS site, and it looked quite official. it removed enough to be able to reinstall my VB express.

    Thanks for the suggestion anyway. if it comes up again, i'll try your method. wish i had found that before wrestling for a week with my old installation...
