I downloaded the VC++ Express Beta 2 image and burned it to a CD.
Then I ran the setup.exe from the CD. The install failed because the image had the file mentioned in the subject header, not it converted form, *.msi.
I used IsoBuster to install the image and then expanded the vs_setup.ms_ file to vs_setup.msi
The install then proceeded normally.

vs_setup.ms_ not 'expanded'.

Here is a link that should point you to the location for downloading it:

I have tried to install the VBasic Express edition on Windows2000. I have to use a downloaded CD image rather than the network installer. I have checked the CRC. After the first reboot, install fails to proceed, as the PC claims for a vs_setup.msi on the CDROM, and there is only a vs_setup.MS_ on the CDROM.
What is the recommended course of action (besides just creating a new CD image with the file renamed to vs_setup.msi, if this is not really optimal)
Thanks a lot for your help.

vs_setup.ms_ is a special file and should not be expanded.
