When going threw the MSDN help, I run into areas where I get information not found. I've done all the suggestions and posting here is proof my connection is ok.
And example of my problem is a page located at
Visual basic guided tour
- Intro to VB programming language
- - Represent words, numbers, values, variables
- - - Closer Look: Data Types. A link on this page labled Numeric Data Types takes me to the error page. There are also some more error pages further down the line. Most of the guided tour works fine though. I even tried to have it search online first and still had the problem. The setting is now back to search local first, then online.
Is MS still working on the MSDN library and don't even have the pages up yet
Thanks.

information not found in MSDN Library

I just went through both the local and on-line help, and didn't get any error messages/pages for the link to 'numeric data types':
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ae55hdtk(VS.80).aspx
However, as a quote from the 'About MSDN' page:
As with most web pages, they are a work in progress; considering the vast knowledge base that Microsoft have it's suprisingly impressive and accurate.

Thanks, but I found the problem this morning.
I decided to try and reinstall the program, went into controle panel and clicked change/remove. After I did that, It had the option to download the MSDN library (I thought I had that checked when I first installed express). If only MS had that info on the error page, it would have saved me a few headachs.
Dave, not sure what your problem is. Thanks for your help though.

I get this problem about once a week - at least it sounds like the same problem.
When working through local help I click on a link and an error page appears telling me (from memory) that the information is not available locally and my internet connection is not working so it cannot retrieve it online. Every time my connection is fine.
Typically these links display the link text rather than their address in the status bar when you point to them but I've just tried the links mentioned above and they all work fine even though the Numeric Data Types link displays "Numeric Data Types" in the status bar.
I've just learned to live with it but maybe it's a bug.
