If you already own the standard or professional versions, there are no advantages to getting the express version. The express version is meant for hobbyists and small-scale developers who don't need the features provided in standard/pro/VSTS.
You can download the express version beta right now for free ... if you're used to the standard version, you may be a little disappointed in Express (depending on your use). You can probably download the VS2005.NET beta for free as well as a comparison or try before you buy.

To add to what Josh said, you can see a rough feature comparison between the Express and Standard versions of VS2005 at http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/vs2005/productinfo/productline/default.aspx.
