I already installed VB and VC# Express editions together with MSDN library but the SQL wont. Do you have a clue on why is this happening I dont have any beta pre-installed. Thanks.
From the download window I selected all 3 components, C#, MSDN and SQL. After download finished the installing started. All went ok untill a msg informed me that SQL failed to install-and no explanation was given. I am absolute begginer-hobbiest and I cant say anything more:) Thanks for reply Glenn.
How can I get the manual install Do I need to order the disks I did get it to install by manually installing each .msi that I wanted to install. Works but is very slow and cumbersome. I could have taken the time to recreate an installer but that would have taken even more time.
Just to clear some things up... When you installed the express ides did you get errors that sql express did not install or are you trying to install the package seperatly.
Remember that the express system is installed when the IDEs are installed, and is installed to a named instance on you machine ".\SQLEXPRESS".
It looks like a corrupt installer. I have the same issue. I get a notice that the sqlncl.msi could not be found. But I found the files in the setup folder. I am going to try to contact the Express group about fixing the installer.
I installed all the folders about 2 weeks ago. At that time the Check box to skip the advanced installation steps was not part of the install.
If you are installing from the web installer, try the ISO Manual Download. I have seen several problems using the web installer and when the user tried the manual install it went through fine.

You can download the installation images from here
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/install/
If you have antivirus/spyware/malware software installed it might interfere and it is recommended to disable it while installing the express editions.
