  Thanks for responding

  so did deleting Microsoft Office and then reinstalling it work for you at all

  I have tried deleting Microsoft Office and reinstalling it with the software CD, but seem to come up against the same Runtime Error' everytime

  have a problem with Word on XP

  I keep getting a dialouge box up that says

  Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

  X Runtime Error

  Program C:\program files\microsoft office\office 10\WINWORD.EXE

  abnormal program termination

  i have been experiencing exactly the same 'Runtime Error' in my Word program as you

  did the reply from 'Ayman Shoukry' help at all i think i'd need to have his response explained in more 'Lehmans terms' myself.

  Contact the support for word for such issues through the support folks on your area. Make sure you haven't installed any application that over copied the old CRT binaries in system32.

  Hi

  In the end i treid to repair word with the cd this did not work as it told me i had a piece missing, ie the run time error message, i even tried to system restore to before the run time error but this also failed . In the end i spoke to someone my son knew and he said the only way to clear this was to delete Microsoft office and reinstall it with the cd. Please make sure you have the cd to reinstall before deleteing.

  Once you have reinstalled go to microsoft and look for office updates as there are a couple you need to to download
