I am currently trying to create a new project using visual basic 2005 express edition. Whenever I try to create a new project I get the following error message..
Unknown Error "-1"
Has anyone seen this before
I have tried to reinstall a couple times but I still get the same error.
I am running Win XP Pro. with SP2 and have installed all of the latest updates.
Thx

I believe you need to look at Visual Studio Pro.
I don't think VB Express has the ability to do a Window Service with out the use of a lot of hard coding.
As a student you should be able to get a good price on a copy of the Pro addition in either version 2003 or 2005.
You can get a copy of VS 2005 Pro from Microsoft by way of a 90 day free trial. It might take 2 week or more to get it.< xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
What happens when you try to load one of the installed Starter Kits
Do you ever get into the programming window
Try > Shut down all virus pro's.
I have seen problem’s coming from ZIP programs grabbing some of the smaller install files by way of their "extension" > like (.bin) etc.
Try uploading a sample program by way of the main project file. Not from inside the IDE of VB > "My Doc's \ sample.
Try running the setup file in the main download file and use the "Repair" function, select "Download form the Internet".
Standard download area for this is>
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition - ENU
The file is the horizontal figure 8.
