  You can download and install VB2005 Express Edition for free until 6th November 2006. After that time Microsoft, presumably, are going to charge in some way. Or perhaps they will release an updated 2006 version Only Microsoft knows what will happen.
  
  Provided you install prior to November 6th, you have basically got yourself a free application that you can continue to use for as long as you like.

  i asked for that, because german websites tells explicit that a licensed use after 6 of november is possible for free........ but when downloading Express Edition after that date, must pay $49.- for license
  
  of course, i am a little confused about that message

  one of german website means/wrote specially that is free after that time for private AND business-developement !!!

  here an other content from this sites, but i cant find on MS-Sites anything about that:

  Reading on the Microsoft Website it appears that they (Microsoft) will not allow any free downloads of Express Editions after November 6th 2006. If you download it and install it before then you are OK, unless you get the ISO/CD, then you won't have to worry - no online install needed. You can install it anytime before or after November 6th 2006 if you have the ISO/CD.

  where can download an ISO now, anybody knows
