I just installed Visual Web Developer Express and wrote a couple lines of C# code to test things out. It ran fine and rendered in my browser. I used the "Copy Website" feature to deploy the app and try it live. I am getting "The page cannot be displayed". The Event Viewer logs the following error every time I attempt to view the page:
"The server failed to load application '/LM/W3SVC'. The error was 'The specified metadata was not found."
I have Googled this and been on several forums and pretty much everything I have read indicated that my .NET 2.0 framework is corrupt or IIS is corrupt. I tried to uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express and had a number of errors and it would not uninstall. I removed VWD and the .NET 2.0 framework. Also uninstalled IIS. Re-installed everything except SQL because it won't uninstall.
This is all being installed on a brand new laptop with a fresh install of XP.
Any suggestions on what I can do to get this product installed properly
Thank you!
Brian

I'm afraid that it's a little confusing, but the reason there's no visual web developer forum here is that all ASP.NET questions should go to www.asp.net and not here. If you copy and paste this into those forums, I'm sure they will help you solve your problem.
