Can't create new project

Whenever I try to create a new project using Visual Basic Express, I get an error window stating:

The filename, directory name, or volume labe syntax is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007B).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled without success. Can anyone help
