I'm considering upgrading to vs2005 and have a couple of questions. I'm asking here because, after reading the various pages on msdn on the subject and searching these boards and the web, I have not found a satisfactory answer to my questions.
Firstly, I would like to know if there is a vs2005 pro academic version or if the standard version of vs2005 is the only academic version that will be made available.
Secondly and perhaps more importantly, I'd like to know if it's possible to keep the vc++ express edition I already have installed as I'd like to keep it for comparison.
If it's not possible to have both vs2005 and vc++ express installed side by side on the same machine then I suppose I could install the express edition on an older machine. Unfortunately, it's an old p3 650 with 512mb of RAM - I know this meets the minimum requirements but is it really viable to install it on that machine or would it be too slow to be usable
Thankyou in advance for your time and consideration.

hi. you wrote that there is no academic version and the standard Visual Studio 2005 would cost $99..
I was looking around everywhere, but I see the starting price at around €300 or more for the standard version. Or is the German version much more expensive
Is there a link where I can buy the standard version for $99
thanks, Kai

Visual studio and all express editions can exist side by side with no problems. They do use a different set of settings and stuff.
I am unable to answer your first question though.
