Visual C++ Not sucessfully uninstalled

A month or so ago, i was having trouble uninstalling Visual C++ express edition 2005 beta 1. I got fed up and just deleted its folder in the program files.

Obviosly, this caused many registry problems and now it wont let me install visual basic 2005 express edition beta 2. I downloaded a few registry fixing programs and I was able to delete all registry values concerning Visual C++, but the installer still wont let me install visual basic!

How (other then reformating) can i fix this problem

    Unfortuantely, I expect you may have no option but to clean your machine completely if you want to install an Express product on this machine.  There are many components of the Express products that are installed in diffferent parts of your computer, and with registry entries in a number of different places.  If you have deleted some of these but not all, it will be difficult for the uninstallers to work succesfully.  Note that there are multiple pieces that need to be completely cleaned off of your computer before you can install Beta2, including (but not limited to):

    .NET Framework v2.0 Beta1
    SQL Server Express Beta1
    All Express products

    You will need to clean your copmuter and registry of all files related to these products before the beta2 installer will allow you to install.
