Quick question please help. Installing VWD2005 express on a clean machine

Hi there,

I wish to install Visual Web Developer 2005 Express on a completely clean machine.

I intend to format my hard drive, install Windows XP and then install VWD2005 Express.

On the MSDN website it says......

Uninstall beta versions

Before installing, you MUST uninstall any previous versions of SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005 and the .NET framework 2.0.

Does this mean that after installing Windows and doing all the updates that I must then UNINSTALL .NET framework 2.0 before installing VWD2005 Express

This doesn't sound right to me.

Many thanks for any help,

Graham

    Thank you Glenn.

VWD2005 Express is working very nicely but now I've noticed that whilst reinstalling some applications, the installation "progress bar" is not displaying.

Some reading tells me this has something to do with msi.dll and could be linked with .NET.

Would you have any ideas please

    Many thanks,

    Graham

The uninstall instructions that you are talking about are only for those users who have installed the beta systems. If this is a fresh install you will not have to uninstall the .Net Framework. By this I mean if you have downloaded and are installing a version of the .Netframework, VS 2005 + Express, or SQL 2005 that was released after the 6 of Nov and have not installed a version released before that date, then you are installing the Full release code and do not have to uninstall the beta versions.
