Can't download Express registration benefits

Hi everyone. I'm trying to access the free downloads that come with registration, but I only see the Web Developer downloads listed. I don't see the icons, components, or book that come with C#. I assume they would all be listed on one page, but they aren't there. How can I find them

Thanks,
John Salerno

P.S. I don't understand how to download what *is* there either. The link to the Web Developer book says it's a pdf, but when you download it, the file is an aspx file that won't do anything when opened in WD. When opened in an internet browser, it just tries to download itself again. Maybe the site will be updated and fixed tomorrow.

Can't download Express registration benefits

I tried this site with Firefox and had no luck... The buttons were missing...

  • t_girl

    I got this error too.

I've had a similar, related, problem. The link simply sends me to a "Connect" site, where I've signed up (thinking I would need to do so), but after successfully signing up for the program (which didn't seem to have anything to do with the Visual Studio Express Editions), the page now only displays "Error: The page you have requested is unavailable or you do not have access."

Never did find out where the 'benefits' are at.

I had the similar problem "Error: The page you have requested is unavailable or you do not have access."

The first link is to the Registration Benefit Portal. When I click this link, I receive an error in large red font that reads "Error: Object has changed on database since it was loaded and cannot be saved or deleted". I tried clicking the link in all of these emails, but it appears its the same link each time, resulting in the error message.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong or is the site just down

I'm getting the same problem. I've filled out the form many times now and get the same error. Does anyone know how to get past this error Is there some way to bypass the registration, since I've registered VC# Express and my passport, I can't see why I'm registering again for something else.

    Thanks

My undertanding is that you have to register with Connect. Once registered, you get access to a number of benefits through the portal, including free components and downloadable manuals. The problem is, you have to get past this registration bug in order to get to the portal.

I guess no one from Microsoft monitors these forums Is there anyone from Microsoft who can suggest what the problem is and how to fix it

Hi, I'm very sorry for this annoyance.  I'm currently looking into the problem and hope to have an answer for you shortly!

I don't get this error, but I can't download the benefits either. The ones for C# aren't listed at all, and the ones for Web Developer are all a link to a file called downloadDetails.aspx (and not the correct pdf, zip, etc. file it should be).

I think there's a problem with the site right now. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I looked into it further and the problem still occurs, but I've been able to download some materials such as the 10 hours of training files to make the RSS application. Apparently the other links in the email work, but for some reason the actual portal page does not.

I thought maybe the username it's asking me for in the preliminary questions was already taken so I tried a few different ones but same problem happens.

I have registered my C# Express, and received a mail with a link to the Connect website, where you can download the benefits. But when clicking the download button, I get an error message saying "VBScript: File Transfer Manager - There was an error launching the File Transfer Manager. Please try again later or contact your help provider". Any help !

I just find my link goes to the Microsoft Connect site. Anyone know where the benefit portal is

I registered for 2 express editions, vb and c# but I'm able to access contents related to C# only (which I registered after VB)

ps: when I had only VB registered, I was getting page access errors same like others.
