Hi,
I live in a country where ISP's have harsh restrictions on download usage. And would like to save a copy of Express Edition that doesn't require me to download 60mb~ every time I reinstall the program.
Does anyone know if a "redistributable version" exists which would allow me to install it without an internet connection
I ask this as nearly all other Microsoft software I've come across has this option. (.NET Framework, Service Packs, DirectX, etc)
I admit I'm not very good at finding what I'm looking for :(
The closest thing I could find was that page with the 500mb ISO files which probably included the 400mb worth of MSDN extras.
Thank you,
-DC
edit: Another question - Does anyone know if the Windows Platform SDK comes with the 500mb ISO's

VC-EE Redistributable Executable?

The 500mb iso is what you will need to get. It would be possible to strip it from certain parts but I am not sure if it would be allowed to redistribute it or if the default setup will work. The ISO is built to include everything you need to make it run.
The platform SDK is not included.

You got me all excited. I can't find one on Visual C++ though. There are only four listed on the Wrox site, for
Have you actually seen one for Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition That should solve the problem for those with bandwith and connectivity constraints.
The Miller and Ford "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition Programming for the Absolute Beginner" has no CD-ROM.
You've inspired me to look for other possibilities. I'll also see if anyone at Microsoft knows about any impending availability of CD-ROM with or without books.
Well, this is interesting.

To add to the negative information that Andreas provided:
For other Express Editions, there are books available that have a CD-ROM included. They are titles like Build a Program Now! Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition.
Unfortunately, I have not found such a book for VC++ 2005 Express Edition.
I am learning that this makes VC++ 2005 EE unavailable to anyone with limited, unreliable, or restricted bandwidth. This is a problem. And now Visual C++ Toolkit 2003 (a much smaller package) is no longer available for download, so there is no consolation prize either.
Microsoft: Is there any way we can solve this If there were a mail-order copy of the CD-ROM (just as there is for the Platform SDK), that would be some help. Then we could at least purchase one and send it by post to friends and students who can't obtain it by download.
[My EULA says I can't make copies of my CD-ROM for others. I don't know if the EULA has been changed since it was announced that the Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions are to always be free.]

Wrox have published some books called {Language} Starter Kit... These books include the CD Image of the express product.
