I think this has something do with a bug that triggers when you uninstall an unregistered express version (for versions that require registration). For me it worked fine just killing the install/setup process .

Count me in! I'm Getting ready to purchase "Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition", so in preparation I thought it a wise move to uninstall my "REGISTERED" Version of "Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition - ENU". Well, like most of the threads I've read it ain't happening! I cannot uninstall, update or run it! Whenever I try to run it, I'm forced to run the update that crashes. If I try to uninstall it it crashes and says it cannot access "vs_setup.msi". What is going on here I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate.

    Help!!!

I too am having trouble uninstalling Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition. At first, the installer hung up at 25 percent, forcing me to kill the task in Task Manager. Now the installer files appear to be corrupted and the process produces this message: The Windows Installer package: c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\microsoft visual web developer 2005 express edition - enu\vs_setup.msi could not be opened. Choose Retry to try again. Choose Cancel for exit setup. (Then...clicking "Cancel" prompts this: "A problem has been oncountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup." (I'm running this on XP Professional SP2 with 760 megs of RAM and 20 gigs of free space on a 38 gig hard drive).

    Does anyone have any ideas
