I tried installing VB 2005 express, had problems running it when I loaded it. Tried running the uninstall tool before reinstalling and the above error is what transpired. I do not know how to fix this.
Can someone please suggest a solution

I went to the above link, clicked on "Download Now" and saved the setup file locally and then ran it from my desktop (sorry but I do not know if this constitutes using the downloaded CD IMage or not).
The error occurred while using the uninstall tool located at the below website in bullet point #3.

From the link that you have posted it looks like you are using the web installer, I would follow the manual download instructions and download the ISO File. you would then have to burn it to a cd and intstall from there.

hi. im having a similar problem installing vb 2005 express ed. I downloaded the installation files and when I execute it, it is giving me the message that i need to remove any pre-release versions of SQL Server 2005, Native Client, .net 2.0. but I did not install any of these beta versions. I am confused also. i have downloaded the .net 2.0 redistributable from the Microsoft site as well and was able to install the SQL server 2005 Management Studio. but when i try to install VB, it is detecting as if my .net 2.0 is a pre-release version. I checked the Microsoft.net folder and have a subfolder v2.0.50727. isn't this the full version
actually, i am getting the same window message (stating to remove any pre-release) whenever I try to install SQL Sever 2005 Express Edtn and the Visual Web Express Edtn. I am thinking if i need to download/install other software or updates. thanks.

if you do not have previous BETA or CTP versions installed you do not need to run that tool.
If that is the case you should be able to run the online installation tool directly.

We are going to need some more information, ids the above error in the uninstall tool or in the vb install. Also how are you installing it, are you using the web installer or the Downloaded CD Image.
