PSDK install fails

Error 1329. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\Windows\Installer\MSI504.tmp is not digitally signed. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt.

(C:\Windows\Installer - not a valid directory btw, must be part of the PSDK install )

This was the march 06 x86 build. Running xp sp2 build 2600.

error was thrown while installing this file...

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Platform SDK for Windows Server 2003 R2\src\atl\atl.cpp

This was the web download, so after the installer rolled-back the entire install all I was left with was the 300k installer file. 300+megs of download *poof* gone. Tried the download a second time thinking that the required .cab was just corrupted in the DL process, hah...nope. 300+meg Download .v2.0 *poof* gone with the same error. I'm currently downloading the iso version.

If anyone knows what the problem is I'd appreciate it.

Current installs:
C++ express
VB.net express
C# express
sql2005 express
dx9.0c feb2006 sdk
.Net 2.0 framework

PSDK install fails

Three days of constant downloading, over a gig of bandwith, half my hair pulled out. Finally my psdk is up and running. Glenn you are my official "Hero of the Week". Without the link you provided to get the sdk operational with express it would have just been 400 megs of *** on my hard drive. While a bit intense editing through some of the setting files it's working like a charm. For anyone that runs into a problem with the bootstrap download, give the iso a shot, also make sure you run windows update first.

Here's the link I followed for instructions on getting the .img (iso) file into something useable:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/install/default.aspx

While it isn't specific instructions for the psdk, it was easy enough to follow for any application.

    Thanks again Glenn!

I do appreciate the link Glenn, I'll definitely need that info once I get it installed. I'm trying the iso download now, so in about 6 more hours (56k argg) I'll know. I've been searching high an low for the issue, I suspect with the sdk being such a new release it's going to be problematic finding too much of a knowledge base. I did force a run of microsoft (windows) update and it seems it had been awhile since I had done it last (16 critical downloads) so I'm hoping that was the issue.

Either way I'll post the outcome after it's finished and I get it burned. I've seen at least one other instance of the exact error I received and where there's two there are bound to be more.

Not a problem, I have seen times when someone installing the directX System and other web installers over a slow connection having problems with the final files.

    Your Welcome, Glad to help.

I have not done much with the platform SDK, but have you followed the Instructions from the Visual Studio C++ Express Page. Also As You are having problems with the web download you might want to download the full package and try that, at least if it does play up again you won't have to re download.
