pchnotify.exe error

This is my errors poping up!.

1. first error: Just-In-Time Debugging

An exception 'System.TypeInitializationException' has occured in pchnotify.exe.

However, no debuggers are registered that can dubug this exception. Unable to JIT debug.

2. second error: JIT Debugging

JIT Debugging failed with the following error: Odefinierat fel "undefined error"

Please check the documentation topic 'Just-in-time debugging errors' for more information.

This error's started after i installed 'Visual Studio 2005 C# express', i allready had an version of 2003 installed. When i for the first time started the new version i was notified about an conflict of 2 version of an Visual studio debugger in program called "pchnotify.exe". I then had to choose one of the 2 versions, i don't remember the name of the debuggers, but they where both of version 2003. Then pchnotify.exe saved my selection. After this i choosed to uninstall the 2003 version, then this error occured every time i start the computer. Everything works as normal after this annoying messages, what shall i do . I have an HP pavillion D1160.se computer, and the program pchnotify.exe seems to be an HP specific program!! .

I hope 'you' can bare my english :).

    amiga:

You are correct. The pchnotify.exe program belongs to HP/Compaq. It is not part of Visual Studio and therefore we don't know anything about it.

Here is one link that I found by doing a web search. It explains more about pchnotify and how to fix the problem. I haven't tried this and I do not know if it will help your particular situation or not.

I have contacted 'HP Sweden', and they said i should unmark the 'pchnotify.exe' in msconfig. They did not say what it do, can't be any important if you could disable it. Strange program ;). But i have looked in the pchnotify.ini file, and there are some initilization 'scripts '.  This is only part of it, but there is an reference to vjslib.dll file in the red marked path.

Is vjslib.dll an Visual J# file . I don't have Visual J# installed. I have 3 catalogs in 'Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\...v1.0.3705 ...v1.1.4322 ...v2.0.50727........... There are also some double references to the cat: v1.0.3300 and v1.0.5000.0 for example 'vjscor'.

    The v.1.0.3705 must be the 1.0.3300.0 and 1.1.4322 - v1.0.5000.0 . The vjslib.dll is in the v1.1.4322.

The catalog v2.0.50727 is created when i installed Visual Studio C++/C# 2005 express. It seems there is some left overs from the old Visual Studio 2003. Also in the Framework catalog, there are lots of old version v1.0.0.0 files, can i just delete them :). Dangerous!, i know.

    Hi dwertz!

Maybe we must uninstall everything, get rid of the "CLR - common language runtime", that's the where the JIT debugger resides.

So it's in your Windows system, so idon't know if it's gone when you uninstall everything. You can run an program without the .Net development package. So do i dare try! . It's an daunting task to do it all over again, especially over the internet.

But don't take my word for this!:

Idon't have the strength to reinstall everything. I got accustom to it :(.

But please make a note, if you solve it. I can't help you further.

    Yours sincerely, Amiga.

I also have the same problem! I did exactly what you did and now I have the same problem! The problem still exists after removing C# express 2005. The only fix I see posted is hack and does not really address the problem.
