Problems with Reporting Services after restoring to a different server

We had to restore our TFS to a different server, I have followed the Restore procedures on msdn: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms252516(VS.80).aspx. Team System is back up and operational however when I access the Reporting Services site I get the following error message:

The report server installation is not initialized. (rsReportServerNotActivated) (rsRPCError) Get Online Help

Thanks in advance!

Problems with Reporting Services after restoring to a different server

Thanks, Mark! I only had the once instance, and it showed as initialized, but would not initialize. However, I deleted it and it came back green and health, and the report server now works!

Thanks for taking the time to help out.

I am having the same problem where I am receiving this error message but the Initialization tab in my Configure Report Server tool is greyed out Has the solution to this problem been found.

    Thanks.

I had the same message. I noted there were 2 instances listed in the initialization list (one initialized and one not). I had to delete both. RS Config. Manager automatically created a new one that works.

Hi, I have the same error and went to the Configuration Manager like you said. But the Initialization tab is grayed out. All the links before are green, except for "Encryption Keys" which it says is optional. The Email Settings and Execution Account tabs are both yellow exclamation points and they have no settings in them.

Go to the Reporting Services Configuration manager under your Start->Programs->Microsoft SQL Server 2005->Configuration Tools in your AT and connect to your RS. Check the Initialization tab: Initialize it if it is not.

    Thanks,

I had a similar problem. I was looking for a solution to

"ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable)"

but saw that after loading the reporting services configuration, initialization was "not configured". I managed to configure this by clicking database setup (which was already showing configured by the way), changing credential type (to windows account in my case) and setting a user account. After applying changes, it put a green check beside initialization and RS now works.

My problem was caused by moving a Beta 3 Refresh version TFS server. I ended up receiving tech support to resolve our moving issue and the server had to be upgraded to RTM to resolve the problem. Since then I have successfully moved an RTM TFS server without encountering any problems.

Sorry I can't be of more help!
