Hi!
I'm trying to record webtest.
1. Create new web test
2. Window of recorder (IE) does not appears
3. Script is not recorded
What solution can you suggest to resolve this problem
Hi, i'm not running IE7, also also had reset settings for IE.
I'm running WXP SP2 + VS2005 RTM
Seems so that this problem didn't resolved, as i readed is this topic
Is there a solution I've tried all the suggestion, that described in this topic
Thanks for your reply!
I am also experiencing same problem while recording new script. The recorder buttons are all disabled (grayed) and surfing around does not result in anything in the project.
My environment is Windows 2000 Pro. I had Visual Studio Beta version. I uninstalled all the components using script provided by microsoft and installed latest version of Visual Studio 2005.
I was wondering is there any latest solution for this
In addition whem recorder launces - control are grey and there is a
message: The web test recorder must be launched within Visual
Studio. Several days ago all seems to be working. I havent done nothing
unusual... But i launch recorder in standart way - by creating new
webtest, and recorder must starts automatically...
Don't know what to do...
I am experiencing exactly the same issue as Shekar A and objective
I have tried killing all IE processes, I've also tried reinstalling Visual Studio 2005 - twice and trying various resets and updates to IE 6. This has made no differerence and the issue still exists. I'm running Windows 2000 Professional - maybe it is an issue unique to Windows 2000 Pro
This issue renders the Web Test feature unuseable in this product.
We don't have a solution for this problem yet since we can't reproduce it here. Any chance I could get remote access to your machine If so, my email address starts with joshch and ends with microsoft.com.
Are you running IE 7.0 Did you previously have Beta 2 installed on that machine Have you installed another sku of VS recently, such as a an "Express" version
Try going into Internet Options, Programs tab, and doing Reset Web Settings.
Please let me know what happens, a few users have seen this issue, but we don't have a consistent repro for it yet.
I am also having a problem with the webtest recorder. I have used it for several weeks now without any problems, but today when I create a new webtest, I get the xml represntation of a webtest shell:
<
TestCase LaunchRecorder="true" Name="New Test Case" CredentialUserName="" CredentialPassword="" RequestCallbackClass="" TestCaseCallbackClass="">
But, the recorder doesn't open. It appears that all controls to start up the recorder are missing too.
When I go into IE (6.0), I can view the Web test recorder explorer bar, but the options are greyed out, and the message displayed says the recorder must be launched from within VS. I am using VSTS on a server with windows 2003.
Thanks for your attention to this problem, but i can afford to myself
giving remote accsess to my computer due instructions of our tech
support.
I'll be very grateful if you update this topic if resolution of this problem appears!

I'm wondering if the recorder has started but is hiding behind another window.
Does a web test open in the IDE with a status bar across the top that says "Recording..."
If so, does a link appear on the web test status bar that says "Show recorder"
If so, click this link and see if the recorder appears.
Thanks,

Hmm, it sounds like your default editor configuration is messed up for .webtest files.
Try right-clicking a .webtest file in your project and reset the default editor to the Web Test Editor.
Let me know how that goes.
