26201 Error

Hi All,

I've been trying for a couple of days now to install VSTFS Beta3 refresh, I've followed the suggestions for this error 26201, but none seem to be working.  Is there any more detail as to what this message means exactly, and how to get around it

I am installing single server, on a windows 2003 workgroup server for test purposes.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply, actually I did have an earlier beta3 installed ( not the refresh ).  I actually wound up going through the log files myself and found the issue to be that even though the databases weren't in the SQL Manager, the files were there and after deleting them the installation went fine.

The only thing that would have made it easier is if the error text had shown up with the 26201 error itself.

    Thanks again,
    Erik

    i started this thread.

interesting to see that your server also exists in a workgroup, not active directory.

same here. i wonder if this is the problem, even though the error is mentioning something weird with sql server and a weird username being passed to it for authentication.

If you can provide your VSMSI*.txt file from the %temp% directory we can look at the setup log and understand better what is going on.

By chance, did you have  Beta 3 system already installed   The 26201 error is seen when our SQL custom actions run into issues when configuring the databases, sprocs, etc.

    Let us know.

    Erik,

    Glad you found the answer.

Unfortunately, during setup we have a custom action that coordinates with SQL.  It returns the error and any relevant message that SQL provides -- sounds like the SQL text isn't as nearly as informative as it could be.

Again, glad you are moving ahead with Team Foundation
