Scenario work item in CMMI MSF

The process guidance for the CMMI MSF refers to a scenario work item.  This work item is in the Agile template but does not appear to be in the CMMI template.  Will this be added in the final version of the CMMI template   Or will the process guidance be modified

Scenario work item in CMMI MSF

    Hello Ed,

Sorry about the delay in responding. Here is the information I found out:

In general, Agile is a subset of CMMI, but it does have some unique files of it’s own. As a whole, the process guidance is different for Agile and CMMI projects.

For CMMI, a Scenario is a type of Requirement. Make a new Requirement work item type, and under the Type drop-down, you will find Scenario listed.

    Hope this answers your questions!

I am using the Beta 3 version of TFS and have downloaded the most recent version of the process guidance.

Step 4 under the 'Prioritize Scenarios' activity and step 3 under the 'Write Scenarios' activity both specifically mention the scenario work item.  These activities as well as the 'Brainstorm Scenarios' activity discuss importing scenarios into the scenario list and publishing it to the work item database.

Am I to understand that the scenario is not supposed to be a work item type for CMMI

    Hello Ed,

What version of TFS are you using

The CMMI template includes the following work item types:

Task, Change Request, Risk, Review, Requirement, Bug and Issue.

I checked the Process Guidance document for CMMI in both Beta 3 Refresh and the latest bits and neither of them refers to the Scenario work item. Can you confirm where you found reference to the Scenario work item in the ProcessGuidance.html

    Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification, Ed. I found the sections that you were referring to in our latest bits as well. I'm following up with the Process Guidance documentation team to clarify a few things and will post more information for you soon.

    Thanks for your patience!

Thanks.  I had actually found this just before Christmas vacation and was just now getting back to it.
