VS 2005, SQL 2005 and .NET 2.0 are supposed to release in early November, however on the FTP web site they are saying this:
Updates and firm release dates for Visual Studio 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0 (together previously code-named "Whidbey"), along with SQL Server 2005 (previously code-named "Yukon"). The target release dates are well within Microsoft's most recently stated goal (second half 2005), although some of the features expected in the first release of Visual Studio 2005 won't be immediately available (the full Team System tool set, specifically).

So when can we expect VSTS to ship

VSTS Ship Date?

The post below gave me some solid points I can now cross off my list of expected features, so I now know I have to put aside a developer to do a bit more work than expected.

That post (while a little depressing) was really very useful and allows me to plan for the future. Some obvious other questions come to mind like :
- Will the Work Item Web Interface be included in the live release & when can we see a beta version (or even a full specification of it) so we can decide if it'll fulfill our requierments or whether I've got to assign some developers to write one that does everything we need
- What's the timescales & features list for the release of the non-integrated VSTS Source Control tool Half our company will be maintaining legacy code, VB6 code and other things which for now won't be moving into VS2005 compilation -- Lack of this client severely affects our rollout potential & I'll need to plan for this eventuality if it's possible that it won't be delivered fully at go live time. I know we could in theory use the command lines, but this is 2005 - I leave commandline tools to autobuild scripts and sysadmins.
So can we please have some dates released (even rough ones) and some functionality lists we can rely on being in the final release (v1)
Thanks,
Martin

Ideally you could just tell us that the Fawcette article was wrong and VSTS will be ready along with the rest of Visual Studio 2005 the week of Nov 7th. :-)

As a potential early adopter of VSTS, it would be nice to now roughly when this puppy will ship.
