There's now a beta of the TFS MSSCCI plugin for VB6, VC6, etc., but it's not for VS 2002/2003 -- that's still too come. You can download it at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=32202966-EF04-442F-8C5C-88BDF15F551C&displaylang=en.
Brian Harry posted some details about it, including the fact that it is not part of the go-live license.

Beta TFS MSSCCI plugin now available for VB6, VC6 (not yet VS 2002/2003)
Matthew Sorvaag
Is there any update on the availability for this plugin for VS2003 We are about to start a large upgrade on an existing system, and really need the branch/merge functionality in TFS. We are also currently evaluating Vault as we need a solution very soon.
Our developers are very accustomed to the integrated solution for VSS, but with this upgrade, we are also using a some outside developers who will need the performance advantages of TFS and Vault in this kind of environment. I would hate the the non availability of this plugin for VS2003 to lead us in another direction, because we are very impressed with the product.
Can anybody give an estimated release for a beta version of this plugin for VS2003. All that is really required is check in/edit/check out functionality.
Thanks

I guess "Create a Project for Team Foundation" should be named "Create a Project from Team Foundation" - it let you work with projects already exisitng on the server

Thanks again for your help, and we are eagerly awating the release of the plugin. As for now, I have trained our developers on using the Team Foundation Source Explorer.

This is great feedback. We are investigating all these issues and we will let you know their status shortly. Keep them coming!

Hi Jay:
I am glad that you are looking into TFS for your Version Control needs within the company. To answer your question we are working on the VS2003 provider as we speak and we are looking forward to releasing it within the next 2 weeks. After our RTM release of TFS we will then release another version with more bug fixes and hopefully new integration points.
FYI- please remember that TFS is more than a Version Control product (there is Work-Item Tracking, Team Build, and a Data warehouse) when comparing it with other competing products.
Thanks

The next beta of the TFS MSSCCI plugin (scheduled for release in the next 1 to 2 weeks) will be compatible with the TFS RC.
With regards to the question about whether the plugin supports Team Build, Work Item Tracking and the Data Warehouse within VS 2003, the short answer is "no". There is no support for the Data Warehouse or Team Build in the VS2003 IDE via the plugin. We have added support for "work item association" where you can have a checkin associated with one or more work items. The work item channel on the Checkin dialog will allow you to run work item queries and to view individual work items the query returns. However, there is not a way to modify or create work items or work item queries from within VS2003. You will need to run the VS2005 Team Explorer shell to perform these tasks.

Hi:
Currently we are looking into expanding support into VS2003 and adding two main features:
A GUI like Source Control Explorer will not be possible in the near future but is defenitely not out of the question. Are there any other features you think might be benfitial to have
thanks, mario

I tried this out on a simple little VB6 project to see how it worked, pretty slick at least for having TFS integration (and a bit faster than VSS in my opinoin) for those of us with legacy apps that would still like to have centralized version control.
I would be curiuos to see if the Team Project capabilities are going to be included (such as can we have policies enforced or for that matter even have a Team Project )
Otherwise, looks good so far. What is the Create a Project for Team Foundation option in the Tools / Teamfoundation menu

I't's good to see this component available. I've been trialling the MSSCCI plug-in and here are the results so far:
Visual Studio C++ 6
Generally I couldn't get a successful connection/binding to the TFS until I checked out the dsp/dsw files from TFS end. When I did that the following test cases were observed.
1. UseCase1 - Start VC6 and Opening project
2. Use Case 2 - Close Workspace - Reopen workspace
It's pretty much inoperable from here until you restart VC6. I've also noticed that nothing really changes in the dsp/dsw files in regard to SourceControl bindings. I expected there would be a mention to the TFS in there. Is that correct behaviour
3. Use Case 3 - Start VC6 and Open a SourceSafe bound project
It appears I can no longer developer using SourceSafe as my source control provider in Vc6. I expected to be able to switch between Team Server and SourceSafe. This would be important when working on old versions of your software which are in SourceSafe not TFS.
Visual Basic 6
1. Use Case 1 - Start VB6 and Opening project
