Norton Windoctor found the following 2 errors and is unable to fix them

"C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB898458$\ORUN32.EXE" cannot access a necessary file, "learn32.dll."

"C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB898458$\ORUN32.EXE" cannot access a necessary file, "pctree32.dll."

The program ORUN32.EXE may be part of Microsoft Interactive Training for Windows XP. Or it may be part of another program that is causing the error message.

What 2 do

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. DELETING THE FILES DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND DISABLING NORTON'S WINDOCTOR ISN'T TOO SMART, AS IT FOUND THE PROBLEM IN TIME TO FIX IT.

    HERE'S WHAT I DID:

GO TO DLLDUMP.COM AND SEARCH FOR THE MISSING FILES, DOWNLOAD THEM, THEN FOLLOW THE EXACT PATH TO WHERE WINDOCTOR SAYS THE MISSING FILE SHOULD BE AND PUT (DRAG) THE FILE THERE.

YOU'LL FIND THAT WHEN YOU RE-SCAN, THE PROBLEMS WILL BE CORRECTED.

    GOOD LUCK!

I'm sorry but what does this have to do with VC++

I'm afraid I will have to lock the topic as it is not appropriate for this forum.

In future, you may wish to post in the newsgroups of either the manufacturer of the software (recommended) or perhaps a general enquiry on

    www.microsoft.com/communities

    Thanks!

Dear Mjemitchell---- THANK YOU-- I found the dll's in Training and copied them into the correct $NtU... file & WinDoctor is now happy!

Another option, if you are unable to find the file, is to set Norton WinDoctor to IGNORE the problem.

This was a good start for me, but, of course, there were some bumps. I found the files at dll-files.com , downloaded pctree.dll and learn32.dll, then I had to unzip these two files and then I put pctree.dll and learn32.dll in the root directory of C: where WinDoctor found these two small files and put them where they belonged -- WinDoctor then congratulated itself for being smart enough to fix my problems.

Thanks for the suggested starting point. This will work.

    1. Dowload dll files from dll-files.com
    2. unzip them (standard unzip)
    3. Put the files in the root directory
    4. Run WinDoctor and let it find and copy the needed files.

    Enjoy

To solve this problem, delete the folder:

    "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB898458$\

    or disable WinDoctor.

Next time you may want to find a better forum for such questions as it's not related to Visual C++.

Hello, I have the same problem today, and it was difficult to found the result.

Well, i see that someone else... amongst others... have been subjected with the same problem.

    Here's mine...

learn32.dll might not be located on a removable drive, a non-visible volume such as an NTFS drive, or on a network. If C:\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MUNINS~1.EXE cannot find the file, you might need to reinstall it.

Now, i've been using WinDoctor for years as it clearly finds problems alot quicker and easier than i'd care to spend the time on myself. i too, am desperately unwilling to simply delete System files as they may clearly be rather important to the System. Nor am i willing to disable WinDoctor simply because it is a proactive tool, rather than a malicious tool on my system.

No, this may not be the correct forum to post to, But the problem seems to be recurring amongst more than just us fellow posting few... and somewhere in the Grande Scheme of Microsoft... one hopes the useful answers may stumble our way... for myself and others to see. As i found this forum after quite a while of searching through all the Microsoft options to try to fix my own problem myself.

dlldump does not have the files that are needed. i looked all over the website. what hp suggests you do is, go to run, then type sfc /scannow. this should fix the problem. the only thing is, if you have a preloaded copy of Windows XP in your computer, you can't do as is says to do which is to insert the Windows XP cd 2.
  • Pastor Charles

you can also do a search for the folder called "Training". The files that you need will be in there and you can just copy and paste them to the folder where the error occurred.

    Hello,

for me today, the same message :in WinDoctor

    "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB898458$\ORUN32.EXE" cannot access a necessary file, "learn32.dll."

    "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB898458$\ORUN32.EXE" cannot access a necessary file, "pctree32.dll."

then, I found the 2 dll on:

    https://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=187774&SiteID=1

    learn32 and pctree32,

You have to copy that (the 2 dll) in C:/\Windows\System32 and that all.

you can copy it in C:\WINDOWS     too ORUN32.EXE is here

You can copy it where you want, it's not dangerous, I try it, and after you run WinDoctor and, surprise, he do the reparations !!

But please, dont delete something !!!!!

    That's all

    Good luck

juste quelques mots en Francais pour dire que j'ai pas mal rame pour trouver cette solution,

mais malgres la chaleur , il s'est mis a faire tres frais quand ce probleme a disparu.
