Greeting to all, and apologies if this is not right forum. I know so little so I that I even do not know where to look. I have posted already on this forum so I felt this might be good place to start.
We are planning of setting up small server for the master course we are running. Idea is to set up interactive portal to the corse where we could exchange information with students (e.g. students could put their projects, get information from us, we are even thinking about starting web based discussion forum related to the course). I took responsibility of fixing this. Questions are piling up:
(1) Where should I start
(2) Can I use c++ and visual studio environment to create web based applications
(3) What technologies there are available at all
(4) Is ASP.NET place to start
(5) If yes, why should I chose it and not something else (I know it is hard to answer questions like this, probably there is even no clear cut answer, I just want to get the feeling for various technologies that are available)
If you’re with me so far I thank you for reading this. Hope you can help me with some sound advice… or direct me to already existing information.
