I was thinking about buying vs standard 2005. I develop mostly in c++, so I was wondering what the advantages are of the standard version comparing with the express version
Thanks for you answer. I'll use it to develop native cross-platform (linux, windows) applications. So I won't use MFC or something like that. Maybe later also some .net apps. So I was wondering of there then are any advantages for my (I heard that refactoring and class designer is not supported for c++)
I've an other question. Do you know if its possible to develop applications for .net 1.1 with VS 2005 (with c# and c++) And is it possible then to use the form designer and other ide functions
But I've got another question: in the vs trial I can make UML diagrams using visio 2007 beta. Do you know of this is also possible with the express version (the reverse engineer option of visio)

No! VS 2005 can only target .NET 2.0.
You need VS 2003 for .NET 1.1!

It really depends on what technologies or features you will be using. Take a look at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hs24szh9.aspx that compares the different editions and features supported in each.
Hope this helps!
