Not all subscriber types in New Subscriptions Wizard showing up
Not all subscriber types in New Subscriptions Wizard showing up

Hi there,
I posted this question at the end of the other thread I started last
week, "SQL Server Mobile tutorial..." but was thinking that it would
easily be missed so decided to post this question as a new thread.
First, thanks for all your time and help.
When I'm trying to create a new subscription on my server side in order
to do replication with a mobile device, I don't get the full set of
options as outlined in the lab for developing an SQL Mobile application
with VS and SQL Server.
Might you have any suggestions as to
why, when I'm setting up new subscriptions on a database, that in specifying
Subscriber types the only choices I have are 'SQL Server 2000' and 'SQL Server for Windows CE' It
is missing the other two options, 'SQL Server 2005' and 'SQL Server
2005
Mobile' as specified in the lab you pointed me to.
I've carefully installed everything specified in the lab, end to
end, in order. This makes me think I must be missing something else.
I haven't been able to get a replication up and running yet between my
SQL Server and an application on my Windows Mobile 2005 device.
Much thanks!

ok, so when you start the Create New Publication wizard, you are saying "merge publication" as the publication type you won't see SQL Mobile unless you choose merge publication (the only supported type).

I think you are connecting to SS2000 instance. Do you have more than one instance of SQL Server on that box. If so, try connecting to SS2005 instance.

What version of SQL Server are you running If you are on SS2000, you are not going to see subscriber types of 2005/Mobile in the publication creation dialogs. If you are running SS2005, you should definitely be seeing subscriber types of SQL CE, SQL Mobile, SS2005 when you create a new publication and configure replication.

I'm wondering now if the installation was incomplete in some way Is it a problem that SS2000 was previously installed on this machine Perhaps removing it was incomplete Or, can they exist on the same machine together peacefully Have you seen this problem before
Thanks,
-Dana
