Hi,
I was wondering why AS2005 has only windows authentication, unlike SS2005 which has its own users and roles. What was the reasoning behind this
Just trying to understand so I can explain to my peers\boss why we need to setup Windows domain users for our web-based app which has an OLAP front end.
Thanks,
JGP

Why AS2005 has only Windows Authn unlike SS2005?

Why implement one security model and not another is such a broad topic.
For one you can do a little research and find reasons why Mixed mode in SQL Sever is is considered inferior to Windows auth mode from security perspective.
Sorry for being a bit short, but any argument requires a bit of discussion.

Thanks,

I checked those articles. But it still doesn't explain the "why" part.
Any idea why Analysis Services authenticates only using Windows Authn. whereas SQL has mixed mode authn
