In the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express Readme there is the following cautionary note:
When you uninstall a pre-release version of SSMSE on a computer that has Visual Studio 2005 installed, you must repair the Windows Registry before you can use the Visual Studio Dataset Designer. For more information, see Knowledge Base article 917635.
When I click on the article link, the page displays: The Knowledge Base (KB) Article you requested is currently not available.
Is there any further information on this Cautionary note

SSMSE CTP Uninstall and Visual Studio 2005
GOsborne
Thanks for the offer. I'll wait for the KB article to be finalized. I've been using the dataset designer for the core functionality of a web site I'm developing and was concerned that I would end up having to uninstall and reinstall VS 2005. Although I strongly dislike editing the registry, it's preferable to going through the uninstall/reinstall process. Thank you for addressing my concerns.

There is an issue where if you uninstall a CTP build of the SSMSE *while* VS is installed on the box, we will accidentally remove a few registry keys from the VS Dataset Designer. The KB article tells how to put those keys back after you install SSMSE.
If you don't have VS installed, then you are fine. The KB should be up soon. If it isn't and you need the information, reply back to this thread and we'll post the reg keys here.

I was just informed that the article has not yet been finalized. I uninstalled SSMSE CTP and installed the release version of SSMSE on a machine without VS 2005 installed and the installation went fine.
