SQL Express license hosting for business purpose?

Thank you very much for the answer, but I was asking about Reporting Data Sources, that still limited to the relational data only in Express Edition.

    Please, look at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/features/compare-features.mspx,

    under

    Business Intelligence>>>Reporting Data Sources

If there is any way to revoke this limitation.

    Thank you very much again,

    Alfred.

There is no restriction on using XML in SQL Express. SQL Server 2005 Express Edition has a new XML datatype so you can store native XML in SQL Express.

    Dear Tim Tow,

as a SQL Server Product Manager, would like to ask you this:

SQL Express is limited,(that's why it is free), but would it be wize to give an opportunity to work with XML data source ,- we all know that SQL Express Advanced Edition is restricted to relational data sources.
XML is a great technology, why Microsoft wants to restrict using it freely in SQL Express

    With best regards,

Yes, SQL Server Express limits Reporting Services data sources to local, relational data sources only.

This limitation is in SQL Server 2005 Express and SQL Server 2005 Workgroup.

SQL Server 2005 Standard and Enterprise Edition do not restrict data sources for Reporting Services.

    Thanks for your feedback.

We are constantly evaluating feedback, and this is something that we may consider relaxing in the future.

No, Tim Tow, there is a restriction:

This is the answer of your colleague, Robert Bruckner MSFT to my question

"Yes, SQL Express Advanced Edition is restricted to relational data sources. Check this link for more details: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/technologies/reporting/rsfeatures.mspx

    Robert "

    The question was:

"The reports based on XML is perfectly displayed in development Environment.

But than uploaded to Server, the following occurs:

? An error has occurred during report processing.

? An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'XML' that is not registered for this report server.

    Help needed, thank you."

So, again, as a SQL Server Product Manager, please revoke this limitation,

So we, developers may use XML technology with such a great tool as Reporting Services.

    Thank you in advance,

    Alfred Yomtov.

SQL Server Express can be used for hosting. There are no limitations or restrictions on using it for business purposes.
