SQL Server and Windows Update

I've read in various places that SQL Server 2005 will be part of the Windows Update process, available at http://update.microsoft.com/.

I have SQL Server 2005 Developer edition installed on both an XP machine, and a WS2003 machine. However, on neither of these machines can I see "SQL Server 2005" as a product on the left (under "Select by Product").

Even when there are no products to install, there should still be an entry (eg. Windows XP (0)) appears when there are no OS updates to install.

My question: When/How will SQL Server 2005 have this support and/or what do I need to do to enable it

Another key point. I wish this info was published on the web pages that describe the 'features' of Microsoft Update - ie. made it clear that there is an intention to do something, rather than implying that it already works.

    Thanks for the info.

I'll assume that NO ONE knows about this then! ...

Thank you! Do you know why "SQL Server 2005" doesn't appear in the products list in the left table pane, if it's a supported product

You make a good point, but unfortunately we don't have the logic on the Windows/Microsoft Update site to detect SQL Server 2005 yet.

Sorry to query the trivial, but even when Windows XP has no updates, it still appears in the products list as:
    Windows XP (0)

Hence, even though there are no updates for SQL Server 2005, I had expected that it would appear in the same way, SQL Server 2005 (0), and demonstrate that it had recognised that SQL Server 2005 was installed on my machine, and would be able to be updated, should an update exist.

Is anyone from Microsoft available for comment

Because we have not release any public SQL Server 2005 updates yet.

SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 will be available on Microsoft Update (MU) near the time when it is offically released.
