SQL Server 2005 incorrectly claims I don't meet minimum service pack level requirements?

This doesn't make any sense. I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 on SBS 2003 with Service Pack 1. According to Windows Update, there is nothing left for me to install. However, I am getting this error (while installing SQL Server Express and the Developer Edition):

"Your operating system does not meet Service Pack level requirements for this SQL Server release. Install the Service Pack from the Microsoft Download Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/ LinkId=50380, and then run SQL Server setup again."

When I go to the link, there is nothing there to download (it takes me to the main Microsoft download page). I meet all the requirements that I have found. What gives

Thanks,

Scott

No real update yet. I should have a box tomorrow to look at it myself.

Um, I guess you can skip the DigitalProductId, ProductId, LicenseInfo, RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization since those all have sensitive information in them. :)

No - not to my knowledge (yet) but we're certainly getting the word out there .

I atteded a local (Cape Town, South Africa) MS system builder's seminar last night and looks like the SBS / SQL 2005 problem is well known here and EVERYONE's looking for the fix from MS.

Let's just keep the pressure up and see what the boykies (local expression for propeller head) come up with

Could I get someone to post the contents of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion key (all values and data just for that key - don't need subkeys) for a SBS machine It's taking a while to get the test machine installed and set up correctly.

I am getting simular problems with hardware detection.

    http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=281451&SiteID=1

Have correct hardware, but installer will not let me go forward... Also the installer does not tell me what actual hardware failed.

    Done.

    Bug ID FDBK46699.

Thanks. Let me know if I can provide anything else. (I've never submitted a bug report before- I feel kind of cool now!)

I wish I had. I've put it on the back burner for now, but if I do figure out what is wrong, I'll be sure to post it here.

    Thanks Ryan,

We got the bug report and are looking at the issue. Looks like SBS is reporting service pack levels differently than we've seen before. We're working on setting up a repro machine in house so that we can find exactly what's wrong.

Can one of you please file a bug with http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback/ and include the log files from %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\Log\Files Also include all relevant information about your hardware and what OS you are installing on.

    Thanks,
