SQL Server 2005 Sept CTP - Failed Installation - It Wants Disk 2????

I have a brand new Dell server with a clean installation of Windows Server 2003 on it.  This server has never had SQL Server, Visual Studio, etc. installed on it.  So, this is the first attempt at installing SQL Server 2005 (in this case it is the Sept CTP).

Everything appears to be working fine for the installation.  Then approx. half way through a message box pops up with a very generic message.  The message simply says to please insert disk 2.  What is this   There is no disk 2.  I downloaded the image file en_SQL2005_DEV_Servers_Sept2005.iso from MSDN Subscriptions.  And, this error doesn't allow me to even pick a path or anything; all I can do is cancel.

Help   What's the problem here   How do I "fix" it or what's the "work-around"

Thanks.

SQL Server 2005 Sept CTP - Failed Installation - It Wants Disk 2????

    Hi,

There are actually two separate disks for SQL Server 2005 installation, these are named as follows

    Disk1:  en_SQL2005_DEV_Servers_Sept2005.iso
    Disk2:  en_SQL2005_DEV_Tools_Sept2005.iso

So, you need to download the other ISO image.

Thanks for the replies.  I've downloaded the tools .iso file too.  But now, how do I "run" the install from the hard drive so that it knows where to find the tools .iso (a.k.a., Disc 2)

When I download an .iso image file such as these, I never burn them to an actual, physical CD.  I normally just use a utility to look inside the .iso file by mounting a virtual drive to the contents of the .iso image.  This scenario doesn't appear to work becuase the SQL Server installation doesn't give the option to select the path on where to find Disc 2.

    Thanks for your help.

There should be another .iso image you should've downloaded, one is Servers (the one you already downloaded), the other should be named Tools.  You need both .iso's to install sql server.

    Hi,

In that case, I assume your Disc 1 was also mounted as a Virtual Drive, so unmount the Disc 1 and Mount Disc 2 with the same letter - I believe that should do the trick.
