Problems with my Vista

Hi,

I have Soundmax driver installed on Windows Longhorn OS. When I use the sound recorder that comes with the OS (in the Startup->Entertainment section) and record through a microphone, my recording is okay.
But if I use Wave out Mix as input pin  and try recording from Windows Media Player to the Sound recorder that comes with the OS, it does not record. It changes my setting to microphone when I start recording automatically.

Also another difference I noticed between Windows Xp and Windows Vista is that mixer device option in the Volume Control of Windows Xp shows SoundMax Digital Audio and with Windows Vista it shows "Line in on SoundMax" and "Microphone on SoundMax", i.e. 2 options.

Has anyone else encountered this issue
Any help/ comments are appreciated !

I have installed Microsoft Windows Vista Beta2

My wireless connection is totally disabled, and I couldn't find softwares that support my Graphic Card(nVidia GeForce 6600)and Soundmax.

    Please, I need solutions......<(_ _)>

I am confused over what you are asking for, do you want the drivers or the Vista operating system. I can give you the drivers but i am afraid that it is illegal to supply you with a copy of Vista.

Just enable the applet in the control panel, that is how i got it.  The web site isn't able to handle vista, yet.

I am sure they are using the Windows XP drivers.  For beta1 many of those still functioned.  As MS is getting further along people are seeing more and more problems with audio.

What build are you trying to use CGS

I am experiencing most of the problems above, mainly because vista beta 2 "apparently" only supports a limited amount of very basic and well known brands of sound, video and wireless cards. this is a real problem for me, as none of my cards are any of these brands, and to meka matters worse, i use the Netgear WG111v2 wireless usb adaptor, and a soundmax soundcard. If anyone has any answers to my problem(s) please contact me on thenewdwoogle@gmail.com.

The way I convinced Windows Update to let me have it in Build 5270 was to simply visit the Device Manager (Computer properties, Hardware, Device Manager) and right-click the unsupported sound device entry and selected "Update Driver".  Still haven't turned on automatic updates, but you can elect to have Windows search Windows Update during "Update Driver".  For what it's worth.

    Hello Again,
I have installed Windows Vista Beta 2 version, but again I am unable to get the automatic updates . Even if I try to run the windows udpates manually, it says that the site is not compatible with Windows Vista OS.
Josh, How did you manage to turn on the Windows updates on the OS
Thanks... Really would appreciate your reply.

    Thanks for the replies.
My Beta1 version has expired and am installing the latest version.
Does windows update run on Vista I had some problems connecting to it in Beta 1 version. I will try to get the driver if it runs.
Yes previously had loaded Soundmax XP driver and it had gotten installed, but the behavior was different. Will try again.

Vistas does not allow installation of unsigned drivers, xp drivers are signed for xp only not for vista, i tried all the tricks of turning of the driver signing policy, registry settings also Microsoft's DPInst tool but nothing seems to work. Do u know any trick to install xp drivers on vista (latest build).

This driver seems to have just been made available on Windows Update.  Try to turn on the Windows Automatic update.  I just got this offered to me the this week.
