Vista Build 5342

Hi. I'm running my AMD64 3300+ with XP Home. I've been MSN-invited to Beta test Vista and have d/l'd Vista_5342_64bit_Main_Staged_DVD_EN.iso at 3.56 Gb. When I click on the downloaded folder, it becomes a winrar archive that only extracts to a readme.txt folder that states "this disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 'UDF' file system".

As you might surmise, I can't install the program. I've tried burning it to a dvd but that doesn't help. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..thanx!

    Hey Peiman,

    Thanks for your help. It looks like I've d/l'd 2 bad ISO files so far (CRC check doesn't match what others got) so I'm trying again today. Hopefully the activation problem will be fixed shortly so I can start using Vista. Have a great day!

    you can't run the 64bit installer from a 32 bit windows. you have to boot from the installation dvd.

    Thanks for your reply. I installed Daemon Tools, mounted the ISO image and burnt a dvd of it. When I try to install Vista from the setup.exe folder I get the pop-up saying it's not a valid Win32 app. Sorry for being such a newb but can you offer any more help Thanks in advance!

    Don't open it with WinRar. Either write the image to a DVD or mount it.

    Again, my thanks to all for your help. Finally got a good d/l and it burned perfectly with my Nero 6.6. What an experience seeing Vista running for the first time! Now I'll just wait for ATI to release a 5342-version driver set since trying to use the 5308-version crashed my pc!

    you need NERO burning rom for this file. Open nero rom and ignore initial dialogue, click cancel. Then from the recorder menu choose "burn image". Point computer to the rar archive and it will burn for you.

    Hello.I would like to ask you,I downloaded the vista_5600.16384.060829-2230_x86fre_client-lr1cfre_en_dvd from the Windows Vista Site,But its a RAR file.If I extract it,only a readme exists.How can I mount an .txt if thats the only file inside the RAR file Plz Answer me I need HELppppp!thank you
