How long is the Future of .Net Technology ?

There are only three possibilities…
1. There is possibility both .Net and Java Runs.
(As both have strong architecture)
2. There is possibility that .Net go ahead than Java.
(As .Net is featured with many cutting edge technologies e.g. multiple languages support etc, support features of future platform Avalon)
3. But, there is no possibility that Java go ahead than .Net
Hope you can decide no what should be your choice!

There is no possibility that .NET will vanish as long as Microsoft exists. Everything Microsoft does has some sort of dependency on .NET and related technologies. If your domain is Microsoft related, stick with .NET. If you will program against some other companies OS or systems, and %90 time you feel like you won't use any Microsoft technologies, then stick with Java.
As Mubshir said, both have strong architecture, wide support on their domain, if you are an independent developer and will program against Windows, I recommend using .Net. If you stick with learning C#, and in the future if you are asked to program a Java code, you may switch to Java at most in a week, same valid for Java.
