I have two computers, a desktop and a laptop, both running win xp home. Both are wirlessly enabled and connect wirelessly to the internet through a belkin router.
The desktop will happily see the laptop and share files, and everything seems to work just fine.
The laptop, however, refuses to see the desktop. I have shared all folders properly, both are part of the same workgroup, and I have run the network set up wizard, and tried to connect using RUN and the IP address. Whenever I try to connect the laptop to the desktop I get the same message;
\\... is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied.
I have tried everything I can think of, and I will be eternally grateful for any assistance.

me too! I just delivered a brand new computer to client place, unplug the loan computer, and hook up the new PC on the network. This is only 2 computer network. But couldn't understand why both could not see each others. Spending 2 hours at site, still could not solve the problem. Though giving up, and reture back to home. Trying to verify the issue, ***, my home computer with small network also encounter the same problem This was not a problem all the while Is there something to do with recent windows update
Anyone help would be much appreciated. I am a system integrator for more than 10 years. And yet could not solve such a small issue. Embrassing ......
Help needed. Thanks!

I tried and it work fine only after rebooting all computer.
But, is that the good solution I am not understand why in the first place, without making changes, the network encounter such problem The network was working for long period, then suddenly access permission problems
On the other hand, the solution might not work, if there is some software that could not work with netbios over TCPIP Will this setting slow down the connection
I think Microsoft should know what is happenning. We would appreciate if any operator in this forums from microsoft to explain the incident.
Thank you!

I am experiencing the same as everyone else. Did this occur due to a WinXP update
My pc's were communicating fine and then all of the sudden they didn't.
Found the link: http://support.microsoft.com/ kbid=318030.
Followed the instructions on both desktop and laptop.
The desktop can see and access the laptop.
The laptop can't access the workgroup. Still gets the error message quoted in the above link!

I have the same identical problem. The desktop communicates with the laptop, but not the other way around. I have been around computers for 25 years and cannot figure this one out. I have disabled all firewalls, have the same workgroup on all systems, etc., etc.
If you find an answer I would appreciate your passing it on. Thanks.

Have tried doing all you say but still no luck.
It worked fine and then sudenly stoped comunicating.
I have 4 computers on a wireless network, the main computer can see all others and connect/share files but the other computers can see eachother and see the main computer but not share with it.
I can however print from any of the computers to the main computer.
If any one knows of a solution please let me know.
I have tried everything I know but still no solution.
