    Rodrigo,

It sounds like you experienced server problem with the beta server network. You should log in again and you contact list should appear. Moving to the beta from MSN Messenger 7.5 should not cause your contains to disappear.

    Scott,

Perhaps you can help me with this: When I am invited to view a webcam in 8.0 all I get is "Loading..." in the window then about 8 seconds later it says the session has ended yet neither I nor the other person has ended it. The other person can see them selves displayed in their window. Thanks for the help.

I too am having problems problems with beta. It seems to have deleted about 60 or so of my contacts for no reason, then when they are added again, they don't show as being online, despite the fact that I'm chatting to several of them at the same time.

Any reason, MS bods, why this is happening & how to sort it out, without havong to downgrade back to 7.5

Im having problems with messanger beta 8.0 as well. The contact list doesnt load fully and when people who are 'not on my list' contacts me, their name appears as someone's else email and when I try to add them it doesnt work.

Switching back to msn 7.5 solves the contact list problem.

    Please advice.

Even more problems now. I decided to try & re-install 7.5, so uninstalled 8.0 & re-installed 7.5.. However, when I tried to re-login in, it still used the 8.0 BETA window & now won't log-in at all, it just goes nowhere. So, due to shoddy software, nothing works. How's about that then

I just upgraded to this messeger BETA 8.0 from Messenger 7.5 and the same thing has happened. All my contacts are not shown and when I add them they appear off line when I know they are not. When I log on using e-messenger, however, my contacts appear as normal.

I am having different problems with Messenger Beta 8.0. For some reason it is consuming 8.0 GB of my hard drive.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Benjamin Holloway\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\ **Insert Passport login here**

There are no files (hidden or otherwise) in this folder or subfolders to reflect this usage and I'm at a loss as to what is causing it but it is saying the contents of the folder is 8.01 GB.

The folder contains 2 subfolders and no other files. The CONTACTS folder is only 824 KB and the SHARING FOLDER is empty with 0 KB showing.

    Any ideas folks

I was having a simular problem, I just tried something and so far so good. I uninstalled messenger, and then went into
    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\

And deleted the email address in here. It looks like this is where all your contacts are held. Then I installed messenger again, and got a bunch of contacts back that were showing as offline. Now I just have to wait till someone messages me to see if they still show up as offline.
